I think cricket is a metaphor for being an immigrant, although I also found it interesting that cricket was once played in the U.S. by our Dutch forebears. The post-9/11 issues were really what this book was about, plus relationships of all kinds. You might want to reread it...loved also his description of Hans's inner life, thoughts, feelings...wonderful writer and wonderful, evocative book.LKnoreply@blogger.com
